FROZEN FOOD
Response given by Marc Lelieur, Marketing Manager, Moy Park Foodservice
The foodservice market has been using frozen poultry products for many years but not necessarily because of budgetary considerations, more the wide variety of products available, the ability to offer a consistent quality all year round and the ease of stock control. In the current economic climate this becomes more evident as waste and portion control can have a direct bearing on profit.
According to a Mintel report* one of the sectors supplied by Moy Park Foodservice, the chicken and burger bar market, is experiencing a slowdown in growth as factors such as health concerns, increased competition and a drop in consumer confidence take effect. But consumer perceptions of value for money will become more significant in this sector and convenience will continue to drive this market; good news for Moy Park Foodservice as it is seeing new prospects for all of its convenience products, across their chicken and vegetarian ranges. The report also shows that consumers clearly still enjoy the guilty pleasure of visiting chicken and burger bars, but that they may do so less frequently in times ahead.
Marc Lelieur, Moy Park Foodservice Marketing Manager, comments, "Moy Park Foodservice has identified some opportunities to grow sales and this has been reflected in our launches already this year of Mini Donuts and Spicy Beanburgers into a major wholesaler, and there is more to come!"
