The UK poultry industry's most prestigious award was presented to Dr Trefor Campbell CBE, chairman of Moy Park, at the Egg and Poultry Industry Conference (EPIC) banquet earlier this week.
Started in 1953, the award carries the joint names of the old British Poultry Federation (the forerunner of the British Poultry Council) and the major feed manufacturer BOCM Pauls. This year the award was presented by Iain Gardener of BOCM Pauls.
Citing Dr Campbell's vision and leadership, Ted Wright, BPC chairman acknowledged Dr Campbell's "consistent and substantial commitment to the UK primary poultry processing sector and his investment in its future".
Wright praised Dr Campbell's strong interest and involvement in bodies encouraging young people to make the most of their abilities, and the way in which these values were employed in Moy Park through pioneering adult education programmes and specific training programmes.
"This is well-deserved recognition for Trefor's massive contribution to the UK poultry industry," he said, "both through his own company, and through wider development and training initiatives."
